Field Projects is excited to announce “Expectations”, a group show of the RISD MFA Painting Class of 2019, with an opening reception taking place on June 21st, 2018 from 6-8pm.
“Expectations” features work that addresses what we expect from ourselves and from others- as artists, but also as fellow human beings. Working from a range of perspectives and lived experiences, these artists are grappling with what it means to be making art in the global present. Narrations and questions addressing the politics of bodies and existential terror are rendered surreal or fantastical. As such, the work resists being didactic and instead opens up to a search for meaning. In a world racked with social and political anxiety and suffering, these artists use their work to conjure and dream the unexpected future.
“Expectations” features the following first year RISD MFA painters: Samuel Drake, Zuhal Feraidon, Evan Gilbert, Dylan Hurwitz, Zahra Jewanjee, Katelyn Ledford, Alex McAdoo, Emilie Stark-Menneg, and Nathan Prebonick.
