Chiara No:

We Know That We Know

Curated by Jacob Rhodes

Artist Reception: Oct 16, 6pm

Oct 16 - Nov 22, 2025

Central to the exhibition is the idea of gossip; not as idle talk, but as a whisper network, a system of care and survival. Hhistorically used by women and marginalized communities,. tThis “good gossip” becomes a form of resistance -- a way to protect, uplift, and comfortwarn. It is knowledge passed through coded language and material, and a defiant archive against official histories. Through her idiosyncratic, object-based language, No critiques how domestic items can be a source of protection, while also being weaponized against those they were meant to shelter.

In the act of sharing—gossip—No invited three artists to contribute something to her show. Cait McCormack, Philadelphia-based artist, objects embody the act of shooting my memories into outer space and having them return to me, compressed and altered by the conditions of the unknown. George Sawyer, a Vermont-based, second-generation Windsor chair maker, constructed his take on a gossip chair that invites a pair to sit closely and share knowledge or stories together. Its encompassing arm bow creates a safe space for conversation, drawing reference to a bassinet and the roots of the word “gossip” to midwifery and motherhood.
